How He Asked

Alec and I are dog obsessed, I mean obsessed. Thanks to our good friends that have the most adorable french bulldog. We spend our days searching dog photos and videos on Instagram just dreaming about our own and laughing til we cry. But it was always just talk. The day he decided to propose to me was very unexpected. I had all my family and friends lying to me all day about what they were doing that night and reasons to meet them for dinner. When Alec’s mom called him asking if we could “let her dog out and lock her house” I didn’t think anything of it. We went to their place and walked into the dark, and what I though was a vacant house that night. I walked over to their beautiful tree to scope the gifts out when I saw a pet carrier under it. Even at that moment, I was oblivious. I kept asking him who had a cat…not sure what I was thinking!! He told me to open the carrier and inside was a perfect baby blue brindle frenchie. Instantly in shock, I lifted him out asking if it was for us!! STILL, I was not catching on and was thinking it was just my Christmas present. I heard him tell me to look at the tag, where it read: Will you marry me? And then we kneeled down and whispered the sweetest words to me while slightly giggling with the biggest smile in his eyes. Of course I said yes as I kissed him, got the most perfect ring on my finger that he custom made, and sat there hugging him with our new little son, Leo, in between us. All of a sudden I heard footsteps and people screaming in celebration. (Turns out they had set up video cameras and go pros and were watching the entire thing on iPads upstairs!!) Both of our entire families ran into the room with some of our closest friends. I couldn’t believe they were all there! When they turned on the lights there was champagne and a dessert bar along with the cutest engagement decor. Both my dad and his dad made toasts that had me in tears, I have never felt so much love in a room. We all got to share such a special night; one of the best nights of my life. Everything was perfect, and I got myself my dream soon-to-be-hubby and the most precious pup; the start to our little family.
