Thank you Mattress Firm for sponsoring this post! All creative content and opinions are of course my own!! 🙂
With November right around the corner and even colder weather up ahead, I thought it would be fun to share my current morning routine! When the temperatures change, it’s sometimes hard to stick to a routine – particularly when the cold weather makes you want to stay cuddled up in bed all day. Working from home, I am luckily able to create my own routines and decide when it’s time to work, and when it’s time to get in some ‘me’ time. Mornings are definitely my ‘Karlie’ time.
When I wake up, the first thing I do is say good morning to my hubby (if he happens to still be home) and also to our pup! In the mornings, our pup is so tired and cuddly it just melts my heart. Once I’m up, I typically check my notifications on my phone. I don’t spend a ton of time on it, I just check any texts, comments, etc. and try to get back to people commenting, so that I don’t accidentally forget about them (which I do sometimes 😉 ).
Once I’ve gone through my phone, I go downstairs and make myself some coffee. We currently have a Keurig coffee machine and the morning blend by Starbucks is my fave!!! In the warmer seasons, I like jot mix it up with iced drinks, but now that temperatures are cooling, I stick with a hot cup of coffee to start off the day. While my coffee is brewing I will let Leo outside and feed him breakfast. If it’s extra chilly, a warm cup of oatmeal is always the best way for me to warm up! Then, I enjoy my coffee and breakfast while doing my Bible reading or devotional for the day.
After doing my readings for the day, I’ll brush my teeth and wash my face. In the mornings I will typically use an everyday cleanser with my Clarisonic. No super intense cleanser, that’s usually a part of my night routine, just something to refresh my face from sleeping the night before and make it nice and clean again! I am currently using just a Neutrogena Naturals cleanser but before that was using the Kate Somerville one which I LOVE.
While I love to watch the leaves change and embrace sweater weather, I’m less excited about what the temperature changes do to my skin. Lately, I’ve been trying to avoid seasonal dry skin by using a strong moisturizing cream in the mornings. The changing weather is also the perfect opportunity to change up your skincare routine – I try to swap out my cleanser, toner and moisturizer in the Fall. I make sure to not use anything with an alcohol base, since that tends to dry your skin out even more.
Now depending on the day, I either head to my workout class (Orange Theory Fitness or my local barre studio, Studio Barre and Lounge), or I will get ready to go shoot content for my blog or I will have some work to do on my blog and it will be computer time! I love Fall because it’s the perfect weather for running outside – when you can run right outside your door, there’s no excuse to miss an exercise. 🙂
Working as a full-time blogger, every day is different for me. With this constantly changing schedule, I’ve learned that starting my mornings with the same routine leads to a more productive and less stressful day.
Even though I have a consistent routine, nothing gets in the way of a good start to my day like a bad night’s sleep. Sleep is EVERYTHING to me. Whether I have a long day ahead at my computer, a workout class, a photo shoot, an event (or whatever it may be), it’s so important to me to get good sleep! That’s why Al and I made sure to invest in a good mattress (we got ours at Mattress Firm!) and I sleep like a baby most every night. If you are having trouble sleeping, it could just be the result of an overused, outdated mattress!
I hope you guys enjoyed my Fall morning routine! If you have any questions about my coffee, Bible reading, mattress, workout studios, ANYTHING – feel free to shoot me an email or comment below! Hope you all have a great day and cheers to lots of good sleep!
Xx,
Hi!
I’ve been trying to get a schedule for bible reading. What do you do or suggest anything for it.
Hi Kayla!! For me personally, I downloaded the Gals Guide to the Gospel off soulscripts.com! It’s a free download that tells you what to read each day, for 45 days!! I always have to follow some sort of structure so this is what I’ve been doing currently!! Hope this helps!! 🙂
Hi Karlie!
I love to read your blog for inspiration, especially when it comes to your recommendations on products, brands, etc! You mentioned your skincare routine and I was hoping you’d be willing to share your current faves! My current face wash/moisturizer combo makes my skin oily but my skin feels dry. I would love some recommendations!
Hey girl!! Thanks so much! Yes I will try to do a post or video on my current routine 🙂 I am currently trying out some Beauty Counter products that I’m loving! I’ve been using their cream cleanser and a lot of their charcoal products because my skin is naturally really oily and acne prone! I also have used Image skincare in the past and that is definitely my go-to!! I will try to get a more detailed post up soon for you!!
