Incase you didn’t know, today is my husband’s birthday!! He turned 27 which although is still young, seems absolutely WILD to me considering we met and started dating when he was just 21!! Looking back, we have both grown and changed so much from when we first met and it’s a beautiful thing to be not only growing and changing as an individual, but to be doing it with your person. I swear each year we become more and more alike – so many things about us rub off on the other person!
Because it’s his birthday and I want to take the time to brag a little 😉 I wanted to share 5 reasons why I’m happy he’s the one I married. ❤
Reason 1: He’s a goof.
Being with someone who makes me laugh was always at the top of my list as I grew up and would think about who my husband would be someday. The best part about Al, is that every year that side of him comes out more and more. I can only imagine how he will be when he’s 50 😂 I love that I can truly tell that he can be his full self around me and I know that we know each other better than anyone else.
Reason 2: He is a God-loving man.
I’ve been meaning to touch on this on my blog in the past, but as far as faith goes- I fully believe that he has saved me. I grew up in a Christian household and have amazing parents and family as examples – but like a lot of teenage girls, my faith was challenged and I started to look at Christianity as a religion or routine and not a relationship. He stepped in and has been the best example of what it is to put God first…and me second 😉 this brings reason number 3.
Reason 3: He puts me second.
Right under his relationship with God, but always before anything and everything else. It’s the craziest feeling to know from the bottom of your heart that he values you and thinks of you first, even before himself. He has such a selfless love that I have never witnessed before and am so so thankful to have.
Reason 4: He’s going to be the BEST dad ever someday.
When I met Al, he already had 2 nephews and shortly after a niece. Now we have 4 nephews (I actually count 5 because we of course are auntie and uncle to our bff’s too😉) and a niece. Watching him be an uncle, since day one, was one of the (many) things that made me fall in love with him. It is the best feeling!! I can’t wait to watch him be a dad, it will truly be a highlight of my life.
Reason 5: He loves me for me.
I remember being in high school and being haunted by knowing how weird of a person I am, and thinking that I would never ACTUALLY be able to be my complete self around the person I married someday. My mom can attest to the fact that with him, I can. Any embarrassing quark or thing that happens – he just loves me though it.

Each year with you keeps getting better and better. I couldn’t have dreamt up a better man to walk through life with and our future together excites me beyond words!! Thank you for being you and for all the amazing things about yourself that bless me daily. I pray that year 27 brings you more happiness, memories, blessings, and laughs than you can count!
